FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER, NB, September 6, 2007 - An inmate has escaped from the minimum security Westmorland Institution in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick.

Gary Gormley, 39 years old, was noticed missing at the 1200 hour count today, September 6, 2007.

Gary Gormley is serving a life sentence for murder.

The RCMP has been notified of the incident. CSC cooperates fully with the public investigation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review of all circumstances surrounding the incident.
