FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPRINGHILL, NS, December 7, 2007 - On Saturday December 1, 2007, following receipt of intelligence information, correctional officers at Springhill Institution assisted the Springhill Police Services in the interception of a quantity of drugs.

The intercepted drugs included approximately 30 grams of hash oil with an estimated institutional value of approximately $5,000.

The Springhill Police Services will be conducting an investigation into this incident and charges may be laid.

Springhill Institution is a medium-security federal penitentiary housing 460 male offenders.
