DORCHESTER, NB, May 8, 2008 - On May 8, 2008, at approximately 1025 hours, an unidentified female person was observed by staff working in Tower One exiting her vehicle and taking pictures of the institutional Service Entrance. The vehicle was detained and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a variety of drugs, tobacco and cash. The estimated institutional value of the contraband is $13,500.
The two occupants of the vehicle and contraband were turned over to the custody of the local RCMP. The diligence of the officers and K-9 Unit demonstrates the absolute importance that the Correctional Service of Canada places on drug interdiction in institutions.
Dorchester is a medium-security institution located in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick, which currently houses 470 inmates.
