LOCKDOWN AT ATLANTIC INSTITUTION

RENOUS (Nouvelle-Écosse), le 11 juin 2008 - On Friday, June 6, 2008, 78 inmates housed in Unit 2 at Atlantic Institution were placed on a lockdown status. Additionally, on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, 56 inmates housed in Unit 1 at Atlantic Institution were also placed on a lockdown status.

The lockdowns were a preventive measure to ensure the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.

Atlantic is a maximum-security institution located in the village of Renous, New Brunswick, which currently houses 225 inmates.
