FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION

DORCHESTER, NB, June 28, 2008 - On June 28th, 2008, Owen Macdonald escaped from Westmorland Institution, a minimum security facility. Following notification by two citizens from the local community, Owen Macdonald was apprehended within 15 minutes by the Correctional Service of Canada. Owen Macdonald has been transferred to a medium security facility.

The Sackville Detachment of the RCMP has been notified and charges will be laid. Owen Macdonald is serving a sentence of 3 years for break and enter and commit, failing to comply with a probation order and possession.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.
