ESCAPE FROM WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION

DORCHESTER, NB, July 11, 2008 - An inmate has escaped from the minimum security Westmorland Institution in the Village of Dorchester, New Brunswick.

Pipogoes Augustine, 30 years old, was noticed missing at 03:50 hrs, while staff were conducting an institutional count today, July 11, 2008.

Pipogoes Augustine is serving a sentence of two years for various theft charges.

The RCMP has been notified of the incident. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) cooperates fully with the public investigation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review of all circumstances surrounding the incident.
