FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF AN INMATE

Dorchester, N.B. June 11, 2009 - At 1513 hours on June 10, 2009, federal inmate Carey Ken Jinson passed away while in custody of Dorchester Penitentiary. He had been hospitalized at The Moncton Hospital since May 9, 2009.

At the time of his death, Mr. Jinson was 44 years of age. He was serving a 5 year sentence for multiple property offences, which commenced in 2007.

Family members have been notified.

As is the case whenever an offender dies while in custody, the police and coroner were notified.

The death may be the subject of a coroner’s inquest as is common with any death of a person in custody.

Dorchester Penitentiary is a medium-security institution located in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
