FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF INMATE AT DORCHESTER PENITENTIARY

Dorchester, N.B., April 30, 2010 – At approximately 16:00 hrs on April 29, 2010, federal inmate Glen Wareham passed away while in custody at Correctional Service Canada’s Shepody Healing Centre.

Inmate Wareham had been hospitalized at The Moncton Hospital for the past fifteen months due to a terminal medical condition.

At the time of his death, Mr. Wareham was 28 years of age. He was serving a 12 year, one month sentence for a series of incidents including armed robberies, possession of prohibited weapons, uttering threats to cause death/harm, mischief, assault and use of force and robberies. His sentence commenced in 2003.

His mother was present at the time of his passing.

Shepody Healing Centre is a Psychiatric Treatment Centre for federal inmates in the Atlantic region. The Centre is located inside the walls of Dorchester Penitentiary, in the Village of Dorchester, New Brunswick.
