FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF AN INMATE AT DORCHESTER

Dorchester, NB, July 26, 2010 – At approximately 00:46 hours on July 26, 2010, federal inmate Lauchlin MacDonald passed away of natural cause while in custody of Dorchester Penitentiary. He was hospitalized at The Moncton City Hospital.

Family members have been notified.

As is the case whenever an offender dies while in custody, the police and coroner were notified.

The death may be the subject of a coroner’s inquest as is common with any death of a person in custody.

Dorchester Penitentiary is a medium-security institution located in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
