LOCKDOWN AT NOVA INSTITUTION

Truro, Nova Scotia; April 7, 2011 –Nova Institution for Women has been placed under lockdown status until further notice to facilitate a search for unauthorised items.

The search is ongoing. Daily institutional routine, including visits, are suspended until the conclusion of the search.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.

Nova Institution is a multi-level institution for women located in the Town of Truro, Nova Scotia. It currently houses 78 women offenders.
