Dorchester, NB, Sept 1, 2011 – A van driving inmates from Westmorland Institution to work releases in the Moncton area was involved in an accident early this morning in Dieppe.
A van carrying a driver and six inmates was hit from behind as it stopped at a yield sign in the rotary in Dieppe. Four inmates were transported to the hospital as precautionary measures. The driver and the other two inmates have returned to the institution.
The RCMP were notified. CSC is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Westmorland Institution is a minimum-security federal institution situated in Dorchester, New Brunswick. It currently houses 246 inmates.
