FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dorchester, NB; October 31, 2011 –On Sunday, October 30, 2011, at approximately 19:30, inmate Joseph SHORTRIDGE was apprehended by Correctional Service Canada (CSC) officers after briefly escaping from Westmorland Institution. He was immediately transferred to a medium security facility.
Joseph SHORTRIDGE is serving a sentence of two years for Break, enter and theft under, and Possession of schedule II substance.
The RCMP has been notified. CSC will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.
Westmorland Institution is a minimum security institution for men situated in Dorchester, New Brunswick. It currently houses 252 inmates.
