Springhill, NS, November 4, 2011 –On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, a significant quantity of tobacco products was seized at Springhill Institution.
During a routine search of the Institution, 410.5 grams of tobacco products, with an estimated institutional value of about $4,510, were seized.
Preventing contraband from entering our institutions is an ongoing challenge. CSC has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include such things as searches of offenders, visitors, ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings and cells.
Springhill Institution is a medium-security federal penitentiary situated in Springhill, Nova Scotia. It currently houses 376 male offenders.
