FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE AND RECAPTURE FROM WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION

Dorchester, NB; November 14, 2011 – On Sunday, November 13, 2011, at approximately 16:30, inmate Matthew ARSENAULT was apprehended by Correctional Service Canada (CSC) officers after briefly escaping from Westmorland Institution. He was immediately transferred to a medium security facility.

Matthew ARSENAULT is serving a sentence of three years and four months for a number of property offences, including Theft Under.

The RCMP has been notified. CSC will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.

Westmorland Institution is a minimum security institution for men situated in Dorchester, New Brunswick. It currently houses 242 inmates.
