BOMB THREAT AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION - UPDATE
CAMPBELLFORD, ON, April 9, 2004 - On Thursday, April 8, 2004 a note was found in the outgoing mail at Warkworth Institution indicating that there were several bombs planted within the institution. With the assistance of the OPP/RCMP bomb dogs, bomb disposal unit, Criminal Profile Unit and institutional staff, a thorough search and threat assessment has been completed. No explosive devices were found and the risk has been assessed as low. Therefore, the institution will return to normal routine this afternoon.
Correctional Service Canada is confident that all measures taken will ensure the safety of the public, staff and inmates.
