FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM KINGSTON COURT HOUSE

KINGSTON, ON, September 1, 2004 - On Wednesday, September 01, 2004 during an escorted temporary absence to attend outside court Inmate A. Gordon from Collins Bay Institution attempted to escape custody.

While removing the inmate from the escort vehicle the inmate did attempt to bolt from the officers as he had removed his foot restraints. The Correctional Officers responded immediately and with the assistance of Court Officers were able to subdue the inmate and place him back in restraint. The inmate was immediately returned to Collins Bay Institution and has been placed in segregation.

The police have been notified and will investigate. CSC will also be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attempted escape.

Inmate Gordon is serving 6 years 3 months 21 days for various offences including assault, property, and drug and driving offenses.
