FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, September 17, 2004 - At approximately 7:30 a.m. on September 17, 2004 an inmate at Joyceville institution was stabbed. Medical examination indicates he received several lacerations to his torso and legs. The range was locked down and the rest of the institution went to a modified routine. Visits will be closed today.

The inmate was escorted to outside hospital. His injuries are considered serious, although he appeared stable when leaving the institution by ambulance.

The Joint Forces Penitentiary squad is investigating this incident.
