FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, November 25, 2004 - At approximately 0025 hours on November 25, 2004, an inmate reported to staff that he had been stabbed in the abdomen area. He was escorted to outside hospital, underwent surgery and is recovering. Collins Bay Institution remains locked down to facilitate an exceptional search. The institution is secure, remains quiet and inmates are being fed on the units.

Visits have been cancelled for the duration of the search. We will return to normal visiting routine upon completion of the search. Visitors are encouraged to contact the institution before visiting.

The police have been notified and are currently investigating.
