KINGSTON, ON, April 18, 2005 - The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) Ontario region will be celebrating National Volunteer Week from April 17 to 23, 2005. Highlights of the week include a reception for the Ontario region nominees for the 2004 Taylor Award.
The Taylor award was established in November 2001 to mark the International Year of the Volunteer. The award is presented each year to a CSC volunteer who has exemplified the spirit of dedication and caring needed to help offenders rebuild their lives.
The Ontario region celebrates our five nominees:
Audrey Howarth: volunteer at Collins Bay Institution, Kingston
Jack Martin: volunteer at Fenbrook Institution, Gravenhurst
Dan Haley: volunteer at Warkworth Institution, Campbellford and Peterborough Parole office, Peterborough
Janice Marin: volunteer at the Central District Parole office, Toronto
William Newbitt: volunteer at the Ottawa District Parole office, Ottawa
A reception is being held to honour the five Ontario region nominees. Media are invited to attend this event.
