FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTRABAND AT JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, July 19, 2005 - On July 10, 2005 a female visitor attending Joyceville Institution was suspected of introducing drugs during a routine visit. Staff members observed the female visitor acting suspicious and eventually passing an object to the inmate. The visit was terminated and the inmate was interviewed and searched. Approximately 30 grams of marijuana were found with institutional value of $3,000 and the inmate was placed in segregation without incident. Also, the female visitor was interviewed and her visits were suspended and a risk assessment is underway to determine her future visiting status.

Charges are pending from the OPP Pen Squad.
