FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KINGSTON, ON, April 10, 2006 - An exceptional search of Collins Bay Institution began Friday April 7 as a result of a report of a missing paring knife from the kitchenette of one of the private family visiting units. A search of the private family visiting unit was conducted but the knife was not recovered. Subsequently, the institution was locked down and an exceptional search commenced. The institution remains quiet at this time while the searching is ongoing.
Searching will continue today until it is completed later this week. Visitors are advised to contact the institution prior to making travel arrangements.
The safety and security of our institutions is CSC's primary consideration. The institution will re-open as soon as searching is complete and the Warden is satisfied that it is safe to do so.
