FLOODING AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION - UPDATE

CAMPBELLFORD, ON, July 26, 2006 - On Tuesday, July 18, 2006 a water main erupted flooding a basement in an inmate living unit causing significant damage. The living unit has been evacuated with temporary accommodation being set up in the gymnasium. The military has provided the institution with cots.

Upon investigation it has been determined that the fire water main erupted due to deterioration and high water pressure from the fire pump.

The living unit is expected to be operational within the next two weeks barring any unforeseen circumstances. Total estimate of damages are between $150,000 to $200,000.

Currently there is no disruption to normal routine.

CSC is confident that all measures taken regarding this incident will ensure the safety of the public, staff and inmates.
