FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, August 25, 2006 - Lee Roy Nugent, a first-time federal offender serving a three-year sentence for robbery and driving offences, died of natural causes at Kingston General Hospital on August 24, 2006. Next of kin have been notified.

The Joint Forces Police/Corrections Investigation Unit-Penitentiary Squad is investigating. Correctional Service Canada will also be conducting an internal investigation. A coroner's inquest will be convened at a later date.
