FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, September 12, 2006 - At approximately 5:45 pm on Monday, September 11, 2006, staff at medium-security Bath Institution were advised by Kingston General Hospital of the death of inmate Leonard Mitchell, who passed away of natural causes.

Leonard Mitchell was serving a 10-year sentence for sexual interference and assault. His sentence commenced on January 16, 2006.

As per Correctional Service Canada policy, an investigation and Coroner's inquest will follow.
