FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, October 16, 2006 - James Cameron, a 39 year old offender serving an 8 year 9 month sentence for aggravated assault, robbery and use of an imitation firearm died of a suspected suicide at Kingston Penitentiary on Sunday October 15, 2006. He had been sentenced in Oshawa, Ontario in April 2000.

The death is being investigated by the Joint Forces Police / Corrections Investigations Unit - Penitentiary Squad. Correctional Service Canada will also be conducting an internal investigation and a coroner's inquest will be convened at a later date.
