FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, January 23, 2007 -At approximately 23:50 hours on January 22nd, 2007, inmate Charles Sylvestre passed away of natural causes. The inmate had been at Kingston Regional Hospital for three days, while under the jurisdiction of Bath Institution.

Charles Sylvestre was serving a three-year sentence for indecent assault. His sentence commenced on October 6th, 2006. Funeral arrangements are underway.

Correctional Service Canada will be conducting an internal investigation and a coroner's inquest will be convened at a later date.
