FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCKDOWN AT COLLINS BAY INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, February 5, 2007 - An exceptional search of Collins Bay Institution commenced Monday February 5, 2007 as a result of information received that there may be weapons in the institution. Normal institutional operations including visits are suspended until the conclusion of the search.

Searching will continue today until it is completed. Visitors are advised to contact the institution prior to making travel arrangements.

The safety and security of our institutions is CSC's primary consideration. The institution will re-open as soon as searching is complete and the Warden is satisfied that it is safe to do so.
