FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, February 19, 2007 - Joyceville Institution is presently locked down as a result of intelligence information received suggesting the possibility of homemade weapons within the Institution. As a result of this information, the Warden has authorized an exceptional search of the facility as a proactive measure.

Visits are closed until further notice. Visitors are advised to call the institution prior to making travel arrangements to verify the status of visits.

The safety and security of our institution is our first priority. The institution will re-open once the searching is complete and the Warden is satisfied that it is safe to do so.
