FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BATH, ON, April 16, 2007 - As a result of intelligence information gathered by correctional staff, a quantity of drugs and a small number of weapons were seized in the visiting area at Millhaven Institution on Sunday, April 15, 2007.

Thanks to the diligence of the institutional staff and the drug detection dog, a quantity of marijuana and three weapons were seized in the female washroom of the visiting area. The visitor was detained by staff and the police were contacted and attended the institution. Their investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

The Correctional Service of Canada has a zero tolerance policy on drugs and weapons in our facilities. Through the hard work of our staff the entry of these drugs and weapons into our institution has been prevented.
