FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, May 1, 2007 - Inmates at maximum security Kingston Penitentiary have been refusing to report to work since Thursday April 26, 2007. The main issue is a change to the evening range routine. The management team is negotiating with the inmates to return to normal routine as soon as possible. The work stoppage has been peaceful with no injuries to staff or inmates. The institution is operating normally with visits open.
