FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, June 25, 2007 - On Monday June 25, 2007 at approximately 11:50 hours staff responded to a situation on the Unit 3 range and observed a number of inmates involved in an assault on another inmate. One inmate was transferred by ambulance to outside hospital where he remains at the time. His injuries were not life threatening. No other inmates or staff incurred injuries from this incident. An assailant has not been identified at this time.

The institution is on a modified routine while searching is ongoing in Unit 3. Both Correctional Service Canada and the Joint Forces Police / Corrections Investigation Unit - Penitentiary Squad will be conducting investigations into this incident.

Members of the public attending the institution for visits are asked to contact the institution first.
