FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FRONTENAC INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, October 1, 2007 - On Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the 21:00 count, an inmate was found to be missing. An immediate search was conducted of the property and he was not located. Police were immediately notified.

Missing is Robert Ongaro, he is serving a 2-year 4-month sentence for possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply and possession of prohibited firearm. His sentence commenced October 11, 2006. Ongaro's statutory release date is May 2, 2008 and warrant expiry date is February 10, 2009. He has been at Frontenac Institution since September 13, 2007. Ongaro is caucasian, 5 feet 5 inches and weighs 152 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes. If you see this inmate please contact your local police department or Crime Stoppers.

Frontenac Institution is a minimum security institution that can accommodate 193 inmates. It is located behind Collins Bay Institution on Bath Road.

This is the fifth escape from Frontenac this calendar year. Last year two inmates escaped.

The Correctional Service of Canada will be reviewing the circumstances of this escape.
