FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, October 16, 2007 - On Sunday October 14, 2007 at approximately 21:30 hours, two inmates were involved in a physical altercation. Both inmates were placed in segregation and one inmate was subsequently transferred by ambulance to an outside hospital for treatment of non life threatening stab wounds. The inmate returned to the institution this morning. No other inmates or staff incurred injuries from this incident.

The institution is on a modified routine while searching is ongoing in Unit 3. Both the Correctional Service of Canada and the Joint Forces Police / Corrections Investigation Unit - Penitentiary Squad will be conducting investigations into this incident. Criminal charges are pending.

Members of the public who plan to attend the institution for visits are asked to contact the institution prior to arriving for a visit.
