KINGSTON, ON, December 7, 2007 - Joyceville Institution security intelligence investigations have led to two separate drug seizures and the arrest of several people on December 1st and 6th, 2007.
On December 1, 2007, North Bay Police seized 126 grams of marijuana, having an estimated institutional value of $12,600. The drugs were destined for Joyceville Institution and two persons have been charged by the Police. Charges are also pending for two Joyceville Institution inmates in connection with this offence.
On December 6, 2007, the Ottawa Police Drug Unit intercepted a vehicle, having three occupants en route to Joyceville Institution. Police recovered 159 grams of marijuana, having an estimated institutional value of $15,900 and $700 in cash from the vehicle. The three individuals were arrested and have been charged by the police. Two inmates at Joyceville Institution face criminal charges as a result of this incident.
