KINGSTON, ON, December 21, 2007 - On December 20, 2007, Barry James Stevens, a 70-year-old offender failed to return to Pittsburgh Institution, a minimum security institution, from an unescorted temporary absence (UTA) to the Toronto area. Mr. Stevens is serving a life sentence for first degree murder. His sentence commenced on December 19th, 1980.
Police were immediately notified of the failure to return from this National Parole Board approved UTA and victim notification was completed.
Mr. Stevens arrived at Pittsburgh Institution on the 23rd of January 2007.
Mr. Stevens is Caucasian, 175 centimeters, weighs 80 kilograms, and has graying hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Stevens is encouraged to contact their local police.
