FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTRABAND AT JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, January 2, 2008 - On December 28, 2007, a package containing 4.5 grams of rock cocaine, fifty one 100 mg morphine pills, fourteen 80 mg morphine pills, twenty 60 mg morphine pills and eleven 40 mg morphine pills was recovered from a visitor attempting to enter Joyceville Institution.

The contraband has an estimated institutional value of $9,860.

The police were contacted and charges have been laid accordingly against the visitor.

The Correctional Service of Canada has a zero tolerance policy on drugs in our facilities.

As a result of this timely action by the correctional staff, and the cooperation of the Kingston City Police, a significant amount of illicit drugs has been prevented from entering our institution.
