FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KINGSTON, ON, January 22, 2008 - Kingston Penitentiary is currently locked down to facilitate a search for weapons.

All visitors to the institution are asked to call ahead to determine when the facility will be open for visits.

The lockdown has been put in place in order to facilitate the search while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.
