KINGSTON, ON, June 3, 2008 - On May 31, 2008, during a routine search, staff at Collins Bay Institution seized a quantity of drugs from two inmates who were returning to their range from a family gathering.
145 grams of marijuana and 7.6 grams of crack cocaine were recovered. The total estimated institutional value of the drugs seized is $16,800.
Police were contacted and criminal charges are pending against the two inmates.
CSC has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include such things as searches of offenders, visitors, ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings and cells.
