FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT KINGSTON PENITENTIARY

KINGSTON, ON, June 11, 2008 - On June 9, 2008, offender Mathew McLean, age 32 passed away in Kingston, Ontario. Due to serious health concerns Mr. McLean, had been receiving care at Kingston General Hospital.

Mr. McLean was sentenced to 3 years, 5 months for break enter and theft. Sentence commenced September 28, 2004.

Next of kin have been notified.

The cause of death is undetermined. No foul play is suspected. Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an internal investigation and a coroner's inquest will be convened at a later date.
