FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

BATH, ON, June 20, 2008 - On June 14, 2008, at approximately 23:15 hours, Scott Jones, an inmate from Millhaven Institution was pronounced dead as the result of injuries he sustained during a recent altercation in the recreation yard.

Mr. Jones was 26 years old and serving a three-year sentence for manslaughter. Next of kin have been notified.

On June 19, 2008, the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad charged Millhaven inmate, Roderick Warren McNeil with second degree murder in the death.

The cause of death is not being released at this time.

The loss of life at any time is tragic. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police are responsible for this criminal investigation and the laying of charges.
