FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

CAMPBELLFORD, ON, July 3, 2008 - On June 30th, 2008 an offender passed away in Campbellford, Ontario. Due to serious health concerns the offender, a Warkworth Institution inmate, had been receiving care at Campbellford Memorial Hospital.

The name of the deceased will not be released at this time as the next of kin have not been notified.

The cause of death has been determined as being from natural causes. As in all cases when an offender dies in custody, a coroner's inquest will be convened. As well, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of this incident.
