LOCKDOWN AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

CAMPBELLFORD, ON, July 21, 2008 - On Friday July 18, 2008 inmates at Warkworth Institution were placed under lockdown status.

The lockdown was ordered by the Acting Warden in order for staff to facilitate a search of the facility, while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates following the discovery of contraband late Friday afternoon. Searching of the institution is ongoing and normal institutional operations are suspended until the conclusion of the search.

Visits have been suspended until the search has been completed.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.
