END OF LOCKDOWN AT WARKWORTH INSTITUTION

CAMPBELLFORD, ON, July 22, 2008 - The lockdown at Warkworth Institution has ended as of this afternoon.

The lockdown was ordered by the Acting Warden in order for staff to facilitate a search of the facility, while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates following the discovery of contraband late Friday afternoon July 21, 2008. Searching of the institution was completed late this morning and no other serious contraband was found.

Regular visits will resume on Wednesday July 23, 2008.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
