UPDATE - LOCKDOWN AT MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

BATH, ON, August 7, 2008 - On Wednesday August 6, 2008, at approximately 20:30 hours, after discussions with the correctional managers, the 110 inmates from the Maximum Security Unit all agreed to return to their unit. Inmates were searched prior to entering their cells. There have been no major injuries reported of either staff or inmates.

The Maximum Security Unit (MSU) has been placed in a lockdown. All visits for MSU offenders have been cancelled. The Millhaven Assessment Unit has returned to normal operating routine.

Ensuring the safety and security of our institutions, staff and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.
