LOCKDOWN AT FENBROOK INSTITUTION

GRAVENHURST, ON, August 14, 2008 - On Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 07:00 hours, Fenbrook Institution returned to normal operations, following the conclusion of the exceptional search.

The Warden ordered the resumption of normal operation at the Institution following the completion of an exceptional search and an assessment that the presence of contraband had been addressed. During the search some items of contraband were seized. The safety and security of its Institutions is a priority of the Correctional Service of Canada as part of our contribution to public safety.

The Correctional Services of Canada (CSC) want to thank the Institutional staff for their hard work and continued professionalism during the lockdown.

All programs and activities have resumed their normal operation including visits.
