FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTRABAND AT JOYCEVILLE INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, September 16, 2008 - On Saturday, September 13th, 2008, an inmate participating in the visiting program, attempted to introduce 36 grams of marijuana into the institution. The OPP Penitentiary Squad is investigating this incident and charges are pending against the inmate involved.

CSC has a number of tools available that are consistently used in our efforts to control the flow of drugs into our institutions. These include such things as searches of offenders, visitors, ion scanners, drug dogs and searches of buildings and cells.
