FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXCEPTIONAL SEARCH AT COLLINS BAY INSTITUTION

KINGSTON, ON, October 10, 2008 - On Thursday October 9, 2008, inmates at Collins Bay Institution were placed under lockdown status.

Intelligence has been received that contraband may have been introduced to the facility. As a result, a lockdown has been put in place by the Institutional Head, in order to facilitate a search of the facility while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.

Members of the public attending the institution for visits are asked to contact the institution first.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.
