FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BATH, ON, November 4, 2008 - On Monday, November 3, 2008, staff acted on information that contraband may have been introduced into the maximum security unit at Millhaven Institution.
As a result, the Institutional Head ordered a lockdown to facilitate a search of the maximum security unit while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.
At this point, visits to offenders in the maximum security unit are currently suspended. Visits are expected to resume Thursday, November 6, 2008. The routine for the Millhaven Assessment Unit and visits to offenders in this unit remain unaffected.
The maximum security unit will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.
