FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UPDATE OF ASSAULT AT MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

Bath, (Ontario), February 5, 2009 - The Maximum Security Unit of Millhaven Institution has returned to normal operations following an assault on an inmate on February 3, 2009. One inmate, who received non-life threatening injuries, remains at outside hospital in stable condition. Scheduled visits have also resumed.

The OPP Pen Squad and Correctional Service of Canada continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Safety of the public, staff and inmates continues to be the highest priority of the Correctional Service of Canada.
