FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCKDOWN AT MILLHAVEN INSTITUTION

BATH, (Ontario), February 9, 2009 - In the interest of the safety and security of the institution, the Warden has placed the Maximum Security Unit at Millhaven Institution on lockdown and ordered an exceptional search for contraband. This follows an incident where an inmate sustained non-life threatening injuries as the result of an altercation in the recreation area.

Searching of the Maximum Security Unit is ongoing and normal institutional operations and visits are suspended in that unit until the conclusion of the search.

Visits for the Assessment Unit remain unaffected.
